Bridge Closure Alert (UPDATE) 14 Day Notice – January 9, 2023
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing a continuation of overnight bridge closures over the Connecticut River (East Haddam Swing Bridge).
BRIDGE CLOSURE INFO
The complete bridge closures to vehicular traffic over the Connecticut River (Route 82) originally schedule to conclude on Friday, January 20, 2023, will now continue nightly until Friday, February 3, 2023. The bridge will close each night at 7:00pm and reopen the following morning at 6:00am. Weekend schedule may vary, updates will be provided each week to inform the public on the contractor’s weekend schedule for closures.
OVERNIGHT WORK PROGRESS UPDATE
Town of East Haddam – The overnight drilling currently occurring for the new retaining wall is on or ahead of the anticipated two-week schedule.
Town of Haddam – The additional two-week overnight closures that have been added are for the reconstruction of the west bridge abutment.
DETOUR INFO
Motorist alternative options to cross the Connecticut River during these overnight bridge closures will be as follows:
- Traveling to/from the South – Use the signed detour utilizing the Baldwin Bridge (I-95 Old Saybrook).
- Traveling to/from the North – utilize the Arrigoni Bridge (Middletown-Portland).
