The Connecticut Department of Transportation is notifying motorist that a 63-hour road closures of Route 82 over the Connecticut River (East Haddam Swing Bridge) will commence this Sunday evening (1/14).
The scheduled time for this closure will be from Sunday 8pm until Wednesday 11am.
Pedestrians and cyclist are advised that during this 63-hour closure, the bridge will be closed to them as well.
Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances could cause a rescheduling of the 63-hour road closure.
Be advised that in addition to the 63-hour bridge closure occurring, the contractor will also be performing overnight bridge closures as follows:
- Wed. night into Thur. morning – 7pm to 6am
- Thur. night into Fri. morning – 7pm to 6am
- Fri. night into Sat. morning – 7pm to 8am
Any changes to this schedule will be communicated in a timely manner.

Motorist alternative options to cross the Connecticut River during these 63-hour road closures will be as follows:
Traveling to/from the South – Use the signed detour utilizing the Baldwin Bridge (I-95 Old Saybrook).
Traveling to/from the North – utilize the Arrigoni Bridge (Middletown-Portland).
